Microsoft Excel Learning Path
From formulas to forecasting
A 3-part learning journey that equips attendees with the skills to effectively utilise Microsoft Excel in their day-to-day operational tasks.
Microsoft Excel Training Part 1
Starting with Microsoft Excel training, Part 1 is the essential first step in your analytical journey.
Learn how to navigate Microsoft Excel’s user interface and Excel for the web – Enabling attendees to effectively use commands, formulas and functions to organise, calculate and analyse data.
Further to preparing worksheet layouts and enhancing workbooks with proofing and research tools. Applying styles, headers, footers and formats to your worksheets – Excel part 1 allows students to manage the overall structure of workbooks.

Microsoft Excel Training Part 2
Microsoft Excel part 2 delves deeper into extracting, filtering and calculating information based on a set of criteria.
Expanding on functions with specialised lookup tools that return values from structured data sets, logical functions that return a result when a condition is met as well as text and time-based functions that assist with data cleaning – allowing information to be easily extractable and supporting time‑based analysis.
Attendees learn how to work with lists to sort, filter and query data. Create hierarchical structures for grouping dimensions like region and group subtotals for sections of data like departments. Apply intermediate and advanced conditional formatting using simple preset rules, such as highlighting values or duplicates and custom rules built with formulas to control exactly when formatting is applied.
Providing the skills to visualise data with charts, use PivotTables and PivotCharts, along with filtering data via timelines and slicers to visually highlight key trends and conditions.
On completion, teams will be able to work effectively with lists and functions, analyse data and illustrate analytical information with charts.

Microsoft Excel Training Part 3
Finishing off with Excel training Part 3 and some serious bragging rights – Learners are equipped with the skills to effectively manage, analyse, automate and visualise data.
Gain the expertise to share, protect, lock and audit changes within workbooks. Link data between separate worksheets or workbooks, create 3-D references to perform calculations across multiple sheets and consolidate data from different sources. Use macros to automate repetitive tasks such as formatting, calculations and data refreshing and learn to locate invalid data and erroneous formulas with formula auditing.
Monitor key cell values in real time using Watch Window and break down formulas step by step with Evaluate Formula. Analyse different outputs using data tables and allow Microsoft Excel to automatically calculate figures for different combinations and scenarios to compare best-case and worst-case results.
Use Goal Seek to work backwards from a target value to determine what is required to reach the targeted goal. Become the office fortune teller with forecasting tools that estimate future trends based on historical data. Create sparklines to display small, in-cell charts that highlight trends at a glance and map data to visually represent information geographically.
Equipping teams to easily identify patterns and performance across data sets, Microsoft Excel Training Part 3 concludes the 3-part journey by bringing together advanced analysis, automation and visualisation skills for practical application across complex data sets.
